Richard Koh Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur presents 'Please Give Me a Space in One Piece' by artist Liu Hsin-Ying from Sepetember 1, 2016 through September 16, 2016.Liu Hsin-Ying is a Taiwan born artist, currently based in Kuala Lumpur. The ongoing exhibition, which showcases eight of her mixed media works, created between 2014 and 2016, also marks her first solo exhibition in Malaysia. These paintings attempts to personify thinking, providing the cerebral exercise a fluid and mysterious form. The artist considers thinking as a process that goes through a constant evolution, a mixture consisting sounds, images, words, sensations and memories. Looking at the act of painting as a form of expression without words, she perceives the elements of and the dynamisms of thinking into loose paintings, overflowing with lyrical and sinuous lines, swatches with vivid colors and cryptic personal symbols, giving ‘thought’ a physical form. Hsin-Ying's works merge the techniques of painting and drawing, with the use of traditional drawing tools such as crayon, pastel and charcoal with oil and acrylic. The variety of sources from the physical world, such as the vastness of sea, the sounds of the wind, cosmic objects such as stars and spheres, acts as poetic inspirations for her works.Click on the Slideshow for a sneak peak of the exhibition.
