“Contrapposto Studies, i through vii,” a video installation show of acknowledged artist Bruce Nauman will be on view at Sperone Westwater, New York, from September 10 through October 29, 2016.Known to be a facilitator for the transferal in artistic practice towards conceptual uses and performativity of language and the body, Nauman has established durational practices and time-based media in addition his abstractly meticulous attempts across sculpture, sound, drawing, photography, film, and video. Nauman’s 12th show at the gallery since 1976, “Contrapposto Studies, i through vii” features seven large-scale, high-definition video projections with sound. In each prognosis, Nauman walks in contrapposto, seen either frontally or in profile. Across the projections, his image is repeated and rendered in both positive and negative, while walking backwards and forwards, respectively.With this exhibition, Nauman seems to digitally transform a singular motion into an increasingly complex visual and auditory experience.Click on the slideshow for the sneak peak of the exhibition
