Datebook: ‘Everett Gee Jackson: Modernism Without Apologies’ at the Hirschl & Adler Galleries, New York

“Modernism Without Apologies”, an exhibition of famous works by acclaimed artist Everett Gee Jackson will be on view at the Hirschl & Adler Galleries, New York running from October 14 through November 19, 2016. The works displayed in the exhibition mostly focus on the distinguishing modernism that procreated in 1920s Mexico City.Everett Gee Jackson (1900–1995), known to reconnoiter Mexican avant-garde, functioned it to domestic matters from East Texas to Southern California, and such is reflected in his masterpieces. Many critics have regarded his style as “sturdy modernism”. “Modernism Without Apologies” embraces nearly 20 figure paintings and landscapes dating from Jackson’s years in Texas, Mexico, and San Diego. Few of his works being exhibited include The Fishing Barge (c. 1933), S.E.R.A. (1934), Embarkation (1938), and Big Jim (c. 1927).Click on the slideshow for the sneak peek of the exhibition.
