The National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, will host the exhibition, “Versailles: Treasures from the Palace” from December 9, 2016, through April 17, 2017. Treasures from the palace of Versailles, France, will travel to Australia for the show that will highlight the reign of three French kings, the lives of their queens and various mistresses, throwing light on the captivating and often tumultuous period of French history. On display will be more than 130 paintings, intricate tapestries, gilded furniture items, monumental statues and other objects from the royal gardens, and personal items, from Louis XIV to Marie Antoinette.
