“Gregory Amenoff: New Paintings,” an exhibition of paintings by American painter Gregory Amenoff will be put on show at Alexandre Gallery, New York, from September 15 through October 29, 2016. Amenoff’s paintings explore the domains of one’s imagination and the terrain of the tangible and spiritual realm that one really resides in.Endowed with a fellowship from the Simon Guggenheim Foundation in 2011, Gregory Amenoff (born 1948) is also the recipient of several awards from various organizations including the American Academy of Arts and Letters, National Endowment for the Arts and New York State Council on the Arts.Inspired by the early American modernists, Gregory Amenoff draws on a semi-abstract language, encapsulating the awe-inspiring impression of nature. His novel paintings are charged with a new and more idiosyncratic idea of mortality, longing, and hope.
