12 different genres of traditional art representing the diverse culture of the Indian subcontinent will be showcased in a group exhibition titled "Many Indias" at the Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre from August 26 to August 31, 2016.The exhibition will highlight exquisite forms of art in India like that of the secluded community of Baiga of Madhya Pradesh, the indigenous tribal community of Bhil from western deccan regions and central India, Gond, Kalamkari from Andhra Pradesh, Kalighat style of paintings from Kolkata, Rogan from Kutch region of Gujarat, the Saura tribe art from Orissa, Warli from the coastal regions of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Patchitra from Bengal and Orissa, representation of Srinathji in form of Picchvai art of Nathdwara, folk visual idoms from Mithila in form of Madhubani and Sanjhi art that locates its root in the Krishna cult practiced in the region of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition.
